Why an Internet Advertising Competition?
The
Web Marketing Association (WMA) was founded in Boston in 1997 to
help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate web
development on the World Wide Web. Staffed by volunteers, this
organization is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and
design professionals who share an interest for improving the quality
of advertising, marketing and promotion used to attract visitors to
corporate Web sites.
The Web Marketing
Association is the producer of the WebAwards, an annual award
competition that is designed to judge corporate Web sites against an
Internet standard and against peer sites within their industry. Now
in its 11th year, the WebAward Competition has become the premier
event for web developers and marketers each year.
Investment bank
Jefferies & Co. updated its estimates for the worldwide online
advertising industry to more than $60 billion by 2010--up from the
$54 billion it projected in 2006. The bank also revised its
estimates of $26 billion in total revenues for fiscal year 2006 to
$30 billion, up 34% year-over-year.
As the growth of Internet ad
spending continues to climb, companies shift ad budgets from other
media and more companies include the Internet as part of there
campaigns, the role of creativity and functionality become even more
important in online advertising.
While some of the
other advertising competitions have categories for banner ads, no
one has developed an entire competition solely to recognize online
advertising by industry - until now.
Now more than ever,
marketing on the Internet is a competitive environment. Corporate
marketing and Internet professionals constantly need to validate
their efforts and provide clients and senior management with
independent feedback as to the quality of the work being performed.
Clients see quality in "award-winning" advertising and a list of
awards can help to draw new clients to a firm seeking to establish
or maintain its expertise in new media advertising on the Internet.
Read the
Competition guidelines to get a better idea of how the competition
operates and then create a
nominators account and enter your ad and/or campaign into the 2008
Internet Advertising Competition.
All winners will
have their entry highlighted on the Internet Advertising Competition
web site and an on a personal award page that recognizes all of the
participants on an entry. The winners in each industry will also receive a handsome
trophy to display or a personalized Certificate of Achievement.
